The girls put together a gem today as the defense played superbly - no errors with the offense and pitchers working smartly.

The offense got it started in the top of the 1st as Erika led off with a walk and Catherine singled, Erika taking third and Catherine taking second on the next pitch. Isabelle delivered Erika with an RBI groundout. Then Rachel walked and when she took second the throw got away allowing Catherine to come in.

We did the rest of the damage in the 5th, Karlee singled and took third on Erika''s grounder to third that the thirdbaseman threw wide of second attempting to get the lead runner. That put Karlee at 3B and Erika at 1B, Erika moving to 2B uncontested on the next pitch.

Catherine drove in Karlee with a hardhit ball to RF that was quickly thrown to 1B for the out on a very close play. Next, Isabelle hit a booming double over the centerfielder''s head scoring Erika.

Now, still in the 5th, Kayla is up with 2 outs and on the 3-2 pitch, she walks and Isabelle steals 3B. On the next pitch we trade an out for a run with Kayla and Isabelle executing perfectly on the bases. Kayla takes off from first and when the throw goes to the SS covering secondbase, Kayla keeps herself in the rundown long enough for Isabelle to fly in from 3B, scoring before they can tag Kayla - very nice job girls!

Our pitchers today also get high marks. Krissey pitched the first 6 innings not allowing a run while striking out 3, walking 2 and allowing only 2hits. Mary pitched a scoreless 7th with Kayla behind the dish.
